The Firewire Xtra Cado is a high performance midlength surfboard designed by Rob Machado. This evolution of the Machadocado is built with Helium Core Technology, featuring a light and lively stringerless EPS core with Paulownia and Balsa wood rails for exceptional speed and parabolic flex. Its generous volume and domed deck allow for easy paddling and early entry, while the pulled down thin rails and single to double concave ensure smooth rail to rail transitions and responsive turns.

Wave Type

The Xtra Cado was meant to ride smaller, gutless waves with lots of glide and float. But, because of the performance elements he brought to the shape (pulled down, thin rails, five fin box cluster, double concave with vee), this shape works quite well in larger surf too, as seen in the video above.

Board Features

This shape is generously volumed hiding foam in the center of the shape thanks to the domed deck, but has pulled down, thin rails for performance when you need it. ​

The bottom has double concave with vee running down the middle that makes the shape really user-friendly and easy to ride. It rolls side to side but still has lift, and his favorite part of the shape is the tail – a wide squash tail that foils out to be this super thin rail back through the tail, very similar to the Machadocado and some of his other shapes.​
