The Channel Islands Weirdo Ripper is a friendly, forgiving design offering nice volume for easy paddling and a V bottom for seriously easy and smooth transitions between turns. Works well as a thruster or quad! Try the quad for more drivy, turn oriented surfing, while give the thurster a shot for in the pocket, easier release style riding. Both setups can certainly work effectively in all conditions.
While the Weirdo Ripper has many fish like characteristics, it still performs on an extremely high level. For the small to medium size surfs, it offers the best of both worlds!
Development of the Weirdo began with Yadin Nicol in a CI shaping pay, playing around and getting weird with Al Merricks Pos design. Over the course of a year, the Weirdo Ripper was constantly refined and tested behind the scenes by non other then Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds and ofocurse Yadin Nicol. It was finally unveiled at the 2012 US OPen of Surfing by Dane, who proved to the world the Weirdo Rippers advantages in tricky Huntington beach conditions.
For intermediate to advanced surfers Channel Islands reccomend riding the Weirdo 2" to 5" shoter then your height.
