FEATURES

This log has a wide point is slotted back from the center point making for a wider tail area pushing the effective volume to the rear of the board. The wider tail helps create a lift for nose riding when you're in the pocket and it's got a narrow nose profile for control in steep tight pockets when you're tip riding. It also has a concave to create that extra lift for nose riding. When you combine all these design elements you get a board that nose rides seamlessly in the pocket and then with that wide point back, creates a pivot point which allows a board to be super maneuverable.

CONSTRUCTION: Thunderbolt Silver Technology

Thunderbolt Silver surfboards are traditionally suited for smaller waves and often shaped in log style shapes. Thunderbolt Silver surfboards are hand crafter for a classic feel with enhanced response. Starting off with an EPS foam blank, a high-density foam block is installed into the blank to provide a secure anchor point for the fin box. AVT flex control components are laminated to the bottom in an “A” shape, then a tapered groove is cut into the deck for the AVT stringer in a “T” shape, which is laminated onto the deck and pressed into the groove at specific depths.

AVT flex control components are laminated to the deck, in a “V” shape. This combination AVT shape defines the flex, responsiveness and feel of the board creating a waistline component which creates a pivot point for tail flex, and stores the energy generated by natural flexing and twisting forces generated during a turn, which then releases through the board and fin launching the board forward. Hand laminated fiberglass layer and PVC shell lock AVT flex control components in, then is cured in a mould for precise rocker and shape. Thunderbolt silver blanks are laminated with a combination of carbon fibre and fiberglass. Designed in Japan, for the world.

Firewire is know for innovating bold new technologies for surfboards that have made them a major player in the surfboard market. In recent years they have taken pride in research and improvements that reduces the impact their industry has on the environment. Originally started by Australian Nev Hyman in 1975, in Perth as Odyssey Surfboards, it became Nev Surfboards in 1981. After travelling Nev decided to pursue creation of blanks for some of the best surfers in the world, and with the years of experience he gained, he began to hone his craft for the perfect surfboard. 17 years later the name was changed again, to Nev Future Shapes, where it entered the global market, manufacturing over 5000 years a year with his growing crew.

Fast forward to 2004, Nev was introduced to Bert Berge who showed him a handmade surfboard featuring balsa rails and high-density composite top and bottom. By 2006 Firewire was officially becoming a global name, with boards generated from CAD/CAM software allowing for the perfect boards to be steadily produced without variations and imperfections in the shape. More recently Firewire has been dedicated and committed to manufacturing boards that will improve your experience with less impact on the environment. In this pursuit they have partnered with BLOOM Foam to develop a traction pad that is the most eco-friendly. After years of growing, developing and honing their craft as a company, they know create boards that cater to all ages and levels of expertise.
